A Muslim-led initiative
Salaam is a greeting of peace and an invitation to know one another.
We are a Muslim-led initiative advancing safer, more responsive, and inclusive experiences for Muslim individuals and families accessing human services in Canada. Through practitioner education and reflective learning, we bridge Muslim lived experiences and professional practice.

Our mission
This work began in a social work classroom, took root in the Islamic value of Salaam, and today focuses on practice change across Canadian human services.
What we focus on
Three areas of impact.
Practitioner education
Reflective, case-based learning for social work, healthcare, education, and mental health. We move past surface awareness toward how practitioners assess, understand, and respond. Salaam in Human Services is our first pilot.

We help organizations develop meaningful practice commitments. In the longer arc, the Salaam Recognition Framework will honour organizations that have committed to reflection, learning, and accountability.

Community consultation, research, and Muslim perspectives shared with the systems that shape Muslim experiences in Canada. The goal is to influence the systems, not only the interactions.
